Leadership Message

Leadership Message

We began 2020 celebrating 50 years of serving our community. Starting as a mental health treatment centre for 14 troubled teenaged boys, today we provide children’s mental health, employment and housing services to more than 19,000 people annually.

This spring, when COVID-19 hit, our team rallied, collaborated and adapted. We did not close our services. We began delivering virtual services, expanded infection control practices to keep everyone safe, moved staff to work from home and engaged our friends in a virtual Steps for Kids fundraiser. In all cases, our goal was to safely continue to serve our community.

As we write this message, we have only seen a couple of COVID-19 cases in our clients and staff. Yet, our frontline heroes continue to risk their health to care for our community. Their courage and strength are amazing, and we cannot thank them enough!

The way we deliver our services has changed over our 50-year history, but our mission has not. The pandemic is challenging our community, and we will adapt and persevere. Our community is founded on innovation, collaboration and generosity - factors that will see us through this. After all, we are resilient, and are all in this together.
