Purpose

Committed to ethical fundraising practices, the Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation cultivates relationships within our community to generate financial resources, raise awareness and develop facilities to better serve those supported by Lutherwood.

We primarily support Lutherwood’s children’s mental health services, which provide a range of preventative and therapeutic programs, to help children and their families deal with social, emotional and behavioural challenges. We also provide funding for Prevention Services (Safe Haven Shelter and Lutherwood Family Counselling) as well as Housing Services for families at risk of homelessness.

History

In December 1981, the Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation was issued a charter as a Charitable Foundation to raise resources to support Lutherwood. In the first year of fundraising, it raised $25,000. Since then, the Foundation has been blessed with the support of many different donors. Contributions come from individuals, corporations, foundations, community groups, and our own Lutherwood staff and Board members.

We have a very special connection with donors through the church community – many of whom have been with us since Lutherwood was founded.

Fundraising Programs

The Foundation raises funds for Lutherwood's programs for today and the future. The Today's Kids funds go directly to work supporting programming that same year. Donations are raised through direct mail requests, visits to donors, proposals and special
events. Special gifts through bequests and insurance policies create resources for Lutherwood’s future. And, money raised through special capital campaigns helps Lutherwood develop facilities to serve children and families today and for the future.

We accept donations by cheque, cash or credit card. Online donations can be made through Canada Helps.
