Getting Ahead in the Workplace

Getting ahead in the Workplace Student

Certain barriers can make it significantly challenging for young individuals to find and retain employment. Lutherwood's Getting Ahead in the Workplace program assists young people in overcoming challenges that often cannot be overcome through traditional approaches so that they can navigate through the labour market and successfully transition into sustained employment.

Lutherwood’s Getting Ahead in the Workplace program will help you:

  • Stabilize your housing situation and explore successful mental wellness strategies
  • Identify your strengths, resources and develop and follow a new future story plan
  • Learn about the "hidden rules" and communication skills needed to get ahead in the workplace
  • Obtain interviews that lead to employment with local youth friendly organizations

To be eligible, you must be:

  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive)
  • a Canadian citizen, permanant resident or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • legally entitled to work in Canada
  • legally entitled to work according to provincial legislations and regulations

It pays to participate: participants will earn $14.25/hour for 90 hours over 6 weeks
