Lutherwood's Mentorship program brings together Internationally Trained Professionals (ITPs) and trades people in Guelph-Wellington with local volunteer mentors in their field.

Be a Part of Our Community's Future

Matches are based on industry experience, professional background or interest in a specific organization. As a result, ITPs will be better equipped to navigate the regional job market, establish valuable networking contacts and learn more about sector specific language and professional practice in Canada.

Benefits of Volunteering as a Mentor:

  • Give back to the community by sharing your passion for your profession
  • Develop leadership excellence and strengthen coaching skills
  • Build inter-cultural competency skills in dealing with diversity
  • Gain an international perspective on your profession

Develop Your Employees. Grow Your Business.

Employers big and small have the opportunity to take advantage of this community-based, cost-effective leadership development program.

Lutherwood’s Mentorship program brings together your workforce’s skilled professionals, current and future leaders with a significant global talent labour pool of Internationally Trained Professionals living right here in Guelph-Wellington.

Your employees and skilled professionals will:

  • Develop leadership excellence and strengthen coaching skills
  • Build inter-cultural competency skills in dealing with diversity
  • Help your business reach emerging economic markets both globally and at home
  • Spot talent for potential recruitment before the competition

Our program offers volunteer mentors a variety of ways to connect with ITPs in their professional field:

Mentees and mentors are matched according to professional background, industry and specialty. The match is generally 12-24 hours over a 3-6 month period. The frequency and duration of meetings as well as the type of communication is mutually agreed upon by the mentee and mentor. The Employment Consultant for Mentorship provides ongoing support throughout the match as needed.

Mentees and mentors are matched for a one-time information meeting that generally lasts 30 minutes to an hour. The professional connector offers information and advice and introduces the mentee to additional contacts where possible.

Lutherwood often puts on special events for our ITPs throughout the year. As a mentor, you can participate as a guest speaker at special events, group workshops and networking sessions.

  • Professionally employed or recently retired with at least 3 years of professional work experience

  • Available to attend meetings and events in Guelph-Wellington and area
