Lutherwood is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of its employees, clients, residents, donors, volunteers and other shareholders. We value the trust of those we work with and of the public, and recognize that maintaining this trust requires that we be transparent and accountable in how we treat the information that you share with us.

Why is my Personal Health Information collected and how is it used?

Lutherwood only asks you for personal health information that is necessary to provide you with the best and safest service possible. We only collect information necessary to be able to contact you, to provide service and to support you, to understand your strengths and needs, to maintain accountability to our funders and meet licensing and other legal requirements.

We will inform you of the specific purpose for collecting and ask your informed consent for sharing your personal health information.  You will be informed of situations where there are exceptions to confidentiality including safety reasons.

If we need to use your personal health information for any other purpose than originally intended, we will notify you.

How does Lutherwood protect my Personal Health Information?

Lutherwood has many security safeguards and extensive policies and procedures in place to protect your personal health information that are guided by privacy laws.  

Your personal health information can only be used by authorized staff providing you with services and support.  Other safeguards include but are not limited to staff, students and volunteers signed confidentiality agreements, use of secure passwords, security software, fire walls as well as other public access controls in place.

Donor Privacy Policy

The contact information we receive from you as a donor and the amount of your donation is the minimum required by Canada Revenue Agency for the issuance of an official tax receipt. We will not provide or share your personal information with third parties unless:

  1. 1. You authorize us to share the information.
  2. 2. Sharing the information is necessary to process a donation.
  3. 3. We are required to by law.
