Front Door

Accessing Mental Health Services

When a child or youth is experiencing mental health, emotional or behavioural problems, knowing where to get help may be confusing and stressful. Front Door provides a one-stop first contact for families and young people who are looking for assistance and services.

A joint initiative between kidsLINK and Lutherwood, Front Door welcomes families in a child and youth-friendly manner and acts as a central resource for families with babies, children and youth up to 18 years of age. In a safe, secure environment, we provide you with the opportunity to tell your story and get the support you need to take the next steps towards wellness.

When you call Front Door, you have the opportunity to talk with a trained professional who is knowledgeable about the challenges a young person may be dealing with, the stress a family experiences when a child/teen is coping with mental health issues, and the variety and range of services available for children/teens within our community and beyond.

Front Door Opens Doors

We have access to a wide range of treatment options and can help you find the most appropriate support and treatment services to address your individual needs. In addition to providing information, assessment and referral services, Front Door operates a weekly Walk-in Counselling Service that provides a single counselling session to address specific concerns of parents and children/teens.

By calling Front Door, families can access an information telehone line that provides them with accurate and up-to-date information about government-funded child and youth services as well as related professional and specialized services in the community. An experienced and caring Front Door Worker listens to your concerns, answers questions and works with you to understand the unique needs of your family.
