Separation and divorce situations are hard on all family members. It can be particularly difficult for a parent and child to keep their relationship strong when they do not live together anymore. Lutherwood’s Child & Parent Place helps separated or divorced parents keep good, healthy relationships with their children by offering a neutral, supervised place for parents to visit with their children or to drop-off and pick-up children to exchange them from one approved parent to another.

Our Staff

Our qualified staff and trained volunteers provide a safe environment that is non-stigmatizing and accessible so families feel welcome regardless of their religious, ethnic or socio-economic background, or reason for referral. We are independent of the court system, but work in partnership with the courts to provide this service.

Our Centres

Child & Parent Place has three convenient, controlled-access locations in Kitchener, Cambridge and Guelph. Our child-friendly environment includes a visiting room, creative playground, toys, books and games for visits between children and their non-residential family members.

Access

During an introductory meeting, we will go over our procedures with you. Both parents are required to contact us before any visits or exchanges can be arranged but parents do not have contact with each other at our centres. Access Centre Hours

Fridays 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm, Saturday 9:30 am - 5:00 pm, Sunday 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm. All visits and exchanges must be pre-arranged with a program supervisor.

Fees

There is an annual fee which is paid before the visits or exchanges begin. We also welcome tax-deductible donations to help cover program operating costs through the Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation.
