Purpose
Committed to ethical fundraising practices, the Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation cultivates relationships within our community to generate financial resources, raise awareness and develop facilities to better serve those supported by Lutherwood.
We primarily support Lutherwood’s Children’s Mental Health Services, which provide a range of programs, preventative to therapeutic, to help children and their families deal with social, emotional and behavioural challenges. We also provide some funding for Housing Services for families at risk of homelessness.
History
In December 1981, the Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation was issued a charter as a Charitable Foundation to raise resources to support Lutherwood. In the first year of fundraising, $25,000 was raised.
Since then, the Foundation has been blessed over the years with the support of many different donors. Contributions come from individuals, corporations, foundations, services clubs, schools, employee groups and our own Lutherwood staff.
We have had a very special connection with donors through the church community – many of whom have been with us since Lutherwood was founded as a ministry of Lutheran Church Canada. We are also fortunate to have the friendship of many of the residents of Luther Village on the Park who have a keen interest in Lutherwood’s children’s programs.
Fundraising Programs
The Lutherwood Child and Family Foundation has a spring and fall direct mail campaign to our donors. Newsletters are sent to the community at these times as well as at Christmas to inform our friends about Lutherwood's work.
We raise money to fund Lutherwood's programs for today and the future. Our annual giving program funds go directly to work supporting programming that same year. Money raised through our planned giving program creates resources for Lutherwood’s future. And, money raised through our capital campaign program helps Lutherwood develop facilities for the future.
We also work with other foundations and coroporations to develop proposals that are in keeping with their social responsibility goals and can support specific needs in our community.
