Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW)
The Targeted Initiative for Older Workers supports experienced workers between the ages of 55 and 64 to secure gainful employment and access training opportunities to upgrade their skill sets. This joint-initiative is funded by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.
Program Participants
- Gain access to specialized funded training and upgrading opportunities to a maximum of six (6) months in duration
- Improve employment contacts through networking opportunities
- Receive support in connecting to employers interested in hiring experienced workers
- May be eligible for financial support through a Basic Living Allowance
- Attend specialized workshops to improve job search skills, gain certifications, and discuss other topics of interest to experienced workers (e.g. Coping with Mid-Life Job Loss, Effective Communication, Self-Marketing for Mature Workers)
- Complete twenty-five (25) hours of job search-related activities a week
- Work with an Employment Advisor to develop a customized Return to Work Action Plan
