Waterloo, ON (March 11, 2010) – Lutherwood’s Get Hired! job fair was a phenomenal success. More than 1,500 people met with 39 employers at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Wednesday March 10, 2010.
Labour Market Shifting
Our local labour market is shifting from the traditional manufacturing sector toward the knowledge-based sector,” said Cathy Harrington, Director of Employment Development Services at Lutherwood. “What that means is there are individual employers and whole sectors that are looking for workers. Our job fair gave job seekers an opportunity to find out which organizations are hiring, discover what kinds of jobs are available and shake hands with local employers that are filling vacancies right now.
While the line of job fair participants was long at 2:00 p.m., it had all but dissipated by 5:00. Inside employers and Lutherwood’s employment advisors and counsellors were kept busy and very pleased with the turnout. (View Video Clip)
